Apple’s Double-the-Trouble Roundup

the introduction of two new categories of iPhones. In addition to the new “gold” iPhone 5S, the iPhone 5C is the company’s first foray into the mid-range phone market. Offered for $100 on contract, the phone comes in many colors and a plastic back.

iPHONE 5S

Now being called “Apple’s flagship phone”, this is the best iPhone currently available. Its improved internal components makes everything run faster – twice as fast, according to Apple representatives. Its home button no longer has an icon, it now has a silver or gold ring around it to signify the 5S-exclusive fingerprint scanner. The display is still 4-inch.

Inside Specs

iPhone 5s is powered by a new A7 processor that is a 64-bit chip. It is the first 64-bit chip in a smartphone, which makes the phone literally 2X faster than the Iphone 5 (which is, in turn, 40X faster than the original iPhone). 5S also runs on OPENGL ES 3.0, making its graphics 56X faster than the original iPhone.

Apple has used a “motion coprocessor” called the M7 in the 5S which continually measures motion data with an accelerometer, gyroscope and compass support. It was designed to enable a new generation of fitness and health apps by letting apps use motion data without tapping into the A7.

Fingerprint Scanner – “Touch ID”

The iPhone 5S’ home button is able to act as both finger scanner and navigation control tool. The scanner holds another layer of security to your iPhone allowing you to use the fingerprint scanner in lieu of a passcode. If you place your thumb down on the saphire crystal home button, the iPhone will unlock.

You can say goodbye to “sliding to unlock”. The new biometric locking system will revolutionize mobile security as we know it.

Camera

The iPhone 5S has a dual-LED flash that makes the iPhone camera actually usable. It will be better, anyway, than the weak excuse of a bulb that other Apple phones have previously used. The dual-LED flash in the iPhone 5S will help make your pictures look more natural and balanced as the phone can combine the right percentage and intensity of the two bulbs to create 1,000 different variations of a flash.

Battery Life

The iPhone 5S has a slightly better battery life with 10 hours talk time, ten hours LTE browsing, and 250 hours standby. That is an improvement over the 8 hours talk time, 8 hours LTE, and 225 hours per day.

Pricing and Availability

The iPhone 5S 16GB will be $199, 32G version will be $299, and 64GB version will cost $399 – all with a new two-year contract. There is an unlocked contract-free version of the 5S for T-Mobile, but pricing begin at $650 for 16GB. The phone becomes available on Friday, Sept 20th.

Iphone 5C -Apple’s New Colorful Budget Phone

This is a new breed of iPhone. It has a plastic back, color-coat and can be yours for only $100. It looks as we expected, with a subtly curved hard-coated polycarbonate plastic back that is available in blue, green, white, yellow and pink (although it really looks red…).

The back of the phone is made from one single part.  No joints or lines. Each case is also steel-reinforced to help amplify the antenna. iOS7 will automatically match the color of your iPhone 5C out of the box. The phone is beautifully, unapologetically plastic” says Jony Ive. The iPhone 5C also comes with a series of very groovy looking silicone cases, with cheese grater holes that allows the color to shine through.

The iPhone 5C is basically the iPhone 5 in plastic. Its brain is the iPhone 5′s A6 Processor and it has an 8MP camera like the 5 as well. The 5C features the same 4-inch retina (326 ppi) screen as the iPhone 5. It has more LTE bands than any smartphones out there, alongside dual-band WI-FI, Bluetooth 4.0, and a slightly bigger battery. Good! It also has a front-facing HD camera which is designed to function better in low-light conditions.

Price

The 16GB iPhone 5C will cost $100 with a two year contract, the 32G model will be available for $200. Off contract prices are way higher: $550 and $650 respectively. Each version will be available for pre-order this Friday and for delivery by Sept. 20th.
